Fundraising at work is fun and rewarding. A great way to encourage team building whilst raising funds to support people affected by cancer in Northern Ireland. 

There are lots of ways you can get involved and support Action Cancer and we’re here to help you every step of the way.

 

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED  

 

1. BECOME A PARTNER

Nominating Action Cancer as your official charity of the year, or on a longer term basis is one of the best ways you can partner with us. We work in partnership with you, supporting your events and creating a calendar of fundraising activity to help you and your staff get the most out of your partnership with Action Cancer.

2. DONATIONS IN KIND

Help us by providing support in the form of materials or services that we can use. Our many events and campaigns throughout the year give a broad scope of ways that you can support through a donation in kind.

3. SPONSORSHIP

Throughout the year we run many successful events and campaigns, for example our Annual Golf Classic and our flagship event, The Bra Walk. By supporting through sponsorship, your business will receive great exposure, avail of benefits such as outdoor, television and radio advertising whilst contributing to the lives of local people in Northern Ireland.

4. FUNDRAISING EVENTS

Through staff involvement and participation in some of our challenging events, you can actively help Action Cancer, while boosting team work and employee morale. Anything from an abseil to a challenging run, why not get your team involved?

5. PAYROLL GIVING

This is an easy way for you and your employees to give regularly straight from your salary, before you are taxed, making it an extremely effective and streamlined form of support.

6. STAFF VOLUNTEERING

At Action Cancer, our volunteers are an integral part of the work we do, we could not function without them. Would you and your colleagues be willing to give up some free to time to help out at an event or lend your skills to a project?

7. CAUSE RELATED MARKETING

Cause related marketing is a great way to encourage positive brand awareness, increase sales and strengthen brand loyalty while at the same time as raising vital fund for Action Cancer

8. SUPPORT OUR CAMPAIGNS

Would you like to play a part in one of our major fundraising campaigns? There are lots of ways your company can help support our high-profile events including The Bra Walk and Paint the Town Pink through sponsorship opportunities, getting a team together to take part, gifts in kind and volunteering.

FinTru

Action Cancer has been selected by FinTrU employees as the company charity partner for 2021-2022.

FinTrU Chief of Staff, Katrien Roppe, said “With partnership being one of our four core values, FinTrU partners with a local charity every two years to collaborate and contribute to their worthy cause. Action Cancer provides a fantastic service across the whole of Northern Ireland and FinTrU employees have a great passion for their work. Our employees are looking forward to working in conjunction with Action Cancer over the next two years and are already planning some creative initiatives during these difficult times.”

FinTrU employees were given the opportunity to submit a charity of their choosing for the selection and shortlisting process. The shortlisted charities were then invited to attend a virtual fair that allowed them to share their work and give an insight into their initiatives to FinTrU employees.

Lucy McCusker, Action Cancer Corporate Fundraising Manager, said “Action Cancer is absolutely thrilled to have been nominated as the FinTrU charity partner for 2021/22. Having been significantly impacted by the events of 2020, the news of this partnership with FinTrU could not be more welcome. When the virus hit it was like a tap being turned off with the majority of our fundraising streams being significantly impacted. Our retail outlets had to close and many fundraising events were suspended or cancelled. Having the support of an organisation as forward-thinking and focused as FinTrU gives us so much hope and optimism as we begin 2021. Both the financial support and the awareness raising platform that the partnership will bring offers huge benefits right across Action Cancer. We are extremely excited to become part of the FinTrU story and I would like to thank all the employees who voted for us to make this happen.”

Over the past two years, FinTrU partnered with locally based charities; PIPS and Kinship Care NI. During 2020, fundraisers evolved to focus more on virtual and remote settings such as; #FinTrU2020 and #FinTrUNItoNY, our health and wellbeing initiatives, Movember, online bingo, virtual quizzes and bake-offs to name but a few. FinTrU is delighted to announce that £75,000 was raised for charitable causes during 2020 by employees.

FinTrU is pleased to welcome Action Cancer as their new charity partner and wishes to thank all those that expressed an interest in working with us.

SuperValu

Over the last 11 years SuperValu stores have raised over £1.5 million for the Big Bus, and continue to keep it on the road by helping to cover the annual running costs.

Since the launch of the hi-tech Big Bus mobile in 2006, which SuperValu helped to pay for, Action Cancer has provided over 37,564 breast screenings and 21,424 health checks on board, free of charge. This incredible support from SuperValu stores across Northern Ireland helped the Big Bus travel to 235 locations last year allowing us to deliver our services right on the doorstep of local communities.

                 

 

Centra

Centra retailers have raised £1 million for Action Cancer and help support our Primary and Secondary School’s Health Action Programmes which are delivered to nursery children right through to Key Stage 4+. 

Action Cancer’s Health Schools Programme, supported by Centra NI, aims to empower and educate individuals and their communities to make informed, positive healthy decisions.

   

 

 

Marks & Spencer

With the help of their generous customers, Marks & Spencer staff across their stores raised an amazing £101,546 throughout July and August to go directly to Action Cancer’s Therapeutic Services. Staff took part in many fundraising events such as bakesales, static cycles as well as taking part in a Grand Fundo event that took place at Forestside. Customers also had the chance to get involved through sponsorship and the opportunity to enter a ballot to win a brand new car!      

 

 

 

 

 

 

Gordons Chemist

Action Cancer and Gordons Chemists have been in partnership since 2008. As the main sponsor of our Breast Cancer Awareness Month annually in October, Gordons pharmacies across Northern Ireland are well placed at the heart of the community to raise awareness and funds for our screening service and encourage women to self-check. Since the partnership began Gordons Chemist have raised over £200,000 for Action Cancer.

Style Sunday

Style Sunday Is one of the flagship events during Belfast Fashion Week, the event usually closes Fashion Week and features a four course fashion luncheon with style and beauty in between courses.  So far Style Sunday has raised over £4500 for our breast screening services! And we can’t wait to see what happens in the future!

Snack 4 Charity

Snack for Charity has been one of our amazing fundraising partners from 2011 with an incredible £53,000 being raised in the last 6 years, the money raised comes from the sale of sweets and snacks placed in businesses throughout Northern Ireland where 50% of the net profit comes directly to Action Cancer allowing us to continue to provide our services.

Charles Hurst

Charles Hurst Toyota has been one of our amazing fundraising partners since 2018. The organisation has supplied Action Cancer with a brand new Toyota Corolla car for the winter raffle for the past 2 years. To date the raffle has raised an astonishing £160,000 since 2018.

Charles Hurst employees organize lots of fundraising initiatives throughout the year from static cycles, onsite fun days, bun sales and coffee mornings and have raised an incredible £5,000 over the last 2 years. Charles Hurst also work closely with M&S to offer car placements outside participating stores – allowing customers the opportunity to purchase tickets in the car raffle.

All funds raised come directly to Action Cancer, allowing us to continue to provide our lifesaving early intervention and therapeutic support services for local people affected by cancer.
