These include lower radiation dosages for women and high resolution images that can be viewed in more flexible ways by Consultant Radiologists. "With nearly 900 new cases of breast cancer every year, Action Cancer has a major part to play in the early detection of these cancers, thereby giving women the highest possible chance of survival." Dr Graham Crothers, Consultant Radiologist added: "Action Cancer screens women aged 40-49 and 65+. Women in the younger age category have denser breast tissue which can be harder to read. The new equipment will allow us to manipulate the images to get clearer, high resolution pictures. The health benefits to women are also important as the new machine uses a significantly lower dose of radiation compared to the previous equipment."
