become a volunteer

Volunteers share a 'gift relationship' with us. The time and effort given by volunteers directly and indirectly help make a real difference to people who are affected by or living with cancer. The time contributed by volunteers enables us to extend and develop the quality and scope of our valuable services. This relationship also benefits volunteers in a number of ways. Volunteers find that volunteering gives them the opportunity to:

  • Have fun and share great company.
  • Learn new skills.
  • Gain valuable work experience.
  • Meet new people.
  • Make friends.
  • Relieve boredom.
  • Gain Confidence.
  • Improve self-esteem.
  • Help a worthy cause.
  • Receive training.

who can volunteer?

Volunteers come from a wide variety of backgrounds. We welcome applications from all secions of the community. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, colour, gender, sexual orientation, disability or political opinion. Opportunities exist for people of all ages whether they are working, unemployed, retired or students.

It does not matter how much time you have to offer as a volunteer. You can work as little as an hour a month to 35 hours per week. Whatever your interest, skills and experience there is sure to be a way you can help.

the work that volunteers do

Volunteers are involved throughout the organisation in a number of different levels. Action Cancer encourages the involvement of volunteers wherever practicable to complement the expertise and experience of paid staff. here are just some of the ways you could help Action Cancer.

helping you to help us

Action Cancer values its volunteers greatly and provides the necessary training and support to enable volunteers to effectively carry out their work. In addition to this any expenses, such as travel expenses and lunch allowances, are reimbursed so that volunteers are not 'out of pocket' as a result of helping Action Cancer.
