safe sun campaign
Small amounts of sunshine on a regular basis can be beneficial, however, Northern Ireland has high rates of skin cancer
with roughly 2,300 people diagnosed every year with this type of cancer.
It is the most common cancer in Northern Ireland - nearly one in four of all cancers diagnosed are skin cancers and the
incidence is increasing.
This summer, Action Cancer is working in partnership with Gordon's Chemists and Cool FM to promote safe sun and help prevent skin cancer.
Our dedicated Health Promotion Team will be visiting 10 locations across Northern Ireland to provide advice and information on
how you can stay safe in the sun.
This is the first time a regional skin cancer prevention initiative will have visited popular sun bathing locations with
specialist advice and equipment. For more information on where you can find us just look at our calendar on the right.
