Digital Mammography

In July 2006 the first full field digital x-ray machine in Northern Ireland was introduced within Action Cancer House & on BIG BUS in September 2006.
 
Digital mammography is simply a different way of acquiring images making using a lower radiation dose possible, the images are more easily manipulated for reporting purposes. There is also published research stating that digital mammography better visualises the dense breast tissue prevalent in younger women.
