Scar Therapy

Scar therapy involves gentle massage of the skin and superficial layers of tissue around the area of a post-surgical scar.  Scar therapy aims to reduce pain around the scar site, improve feeling and functionality and relieve restrictions in the surrounding tissue.  If clients are receiving chemotherapy or radiotherapy they will need to have completed these prior to commencing scar therapy.

It will initially be available in Armagh and Maguiresbridge. To avail of the service call 028 9080 3344.

Bowen Technique

With Bowen Technique the practitioner uses thumbs and forefingers on precise points on the body to make rolling type moves which gently stimulate the muscles, soft tissue and energy within the body. These moves prompt the body to make the adjustments which help to re-balance, relieve tension and reduce pain.

Emmett Technique

This involves the application of light finger pressure at specific points on the body which help change muscle tension and action.

Symptoms that may be assisted by either Bowen or Emmett Therapy:

  • back and hip pain
  • neck and shoulder restrictions and discomfort
  • knee and ankle restrictions
  • persistent heel and foot pain
  • lymphatic and sinus congestion
  • migraines and headaches
  • breathing restrictions
  • abdominal cramps and bowel discomfort
  • fluid retention

Both Emmett and Bowen therapies are safe to use on children/young people as well as adults.

All of our Complementary Therapists are trained in either Bowen or Emmett Therapy. To book an appointment at a range of locations across NI, you can either book online or call Action Cancer on 028 9080 3344.
