We Need Your Help!

Action Cancer are continuously striving to ensure the services provided are meeting the needs of the community and are effective.  To do this, from time to time, we need feedback from those who use our services as well as those from the wider community.  To collect this feedback we use questionnaires and interviews, depending on the specific information we need.  Currently we are carrying out a project we need your help with:

"What services do you want?"

This study is being carried out in partnership with Queen's University, Belfast and with the help of the NIHE and is focused on finding out what services you need and want from us that will help you live a healthy lifestyle.  To find out we are asking you to fill in a short questionnaire, which asks about what you do, what you would like to do and what services we can provide to help you have a healthy lifestyle.  To complete this questionnaire (takes about 5mins) please

Throughout the year we run various programmes in different locations across Northern Ireland. If you are interested in hearing about when these Action Cancer programmes might be running in your area, or you are interested in booking services for a group (available for a booking fee), please complete your details by clicking

Support Needs For Those Affected By Cervical Cancer

You are being invited to take part in research being carried out by the University of Ulster, on behalf of Action Cancer. Before you decide whether to participate, it is important for you to understand why this research is being carried out and what it will involve. Please take some time to read the information below carefully before making your decision.

Action Cancer currently provides counselling, life coaching and complementary therapy support services to cancer patients and their families.  However, a number of women diagnosed with cervical cancer have approached Action Cancer having identified a lack of support and awareness of support services following their personal experience after a cancer diagnosis. As an organisation funded through charitable donations, Action Cancer must ensure the services we provide meet the needs of the community and in response to the problem experienced by some women, Action Cancer has commissioned the University of Ulster to carry out research to examine the support needs of women diagnosed with cervical cancer and their families. The research will include speaking with women, through a focus group event, who have had cervical cancer diagnosed.

Action Cancer is looking for women, who have been affected by the disease, to participate in this focus group. It is expected the group session will be held on the morning of Thursday 26th January 2012 at Action Cancer House, 1 Marlborough Park, Belfast BT9 6XS and it is expected the session will last no longer than 1½ hours. It will be a time used to discuss your support needs, your family’s needs, current shortfalls in support provision and how these could be addressed.

If you would like to take part in this research and are able to attend on the 26th Jan, or if you have any questions about the research, please contact Dr Caroline Hughes at Action Cancer during the first week of January 2012 on 02890803344 or by email: chughes@actioncancer.org
